Romans 2:1-4 (NKJV) ~ Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. But we know that judgement of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgement of God? Or do you despise the richness of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
I could just not write anything else..you know.. “nuff said”.. That is a pretty powerful passage of scripture from the Bible! I will be the first to admit to you all that I am very far from perfect. I have been guilty of judging others….and if you are being honest with yourself, you will admit it too. {not to me..just to yourself and God :)}
It is really easy to sit back and look at how someone else is living, how they look, the choices they have made, the mistakes they have made, and say how you would do things differently. Fact is though, it isn’t our place to judge others. It is our place to love others, and show them that they aren’t stuck where they are at. The fact of the matter is that not one of us is perfect, therefore we are not qualified to judge each other.
It is a choice, a behavioral choice. A choice that we can choose to change! Choose to see others like Jesus sees them. He loves us all..did you get that? ALL of us! Not just the people we love..but everyone!!!
Another mistake that is very common, I know..I have done it myself..is to judge what you think another person thinks of you. Let me give an example: You enter a room..you see somebody look at you and you assume that they are thinking something bad about you..when in reality they are not..(false assumptions)..it is a vicious cycle. A choice (a cycle) that can and should be changed.
Billy Graham said: We never gain in life by hurting others. Sometimes we try to elevate our own insecure egos by degrading and belittling those around us. Yet this produces only a false sense of self-esteem.
I have wrongly judged a situation, and I have also been on the receiving end of being judged. Honestly, neither end of the spectrum felt good. As an authentic believer and follower of Christ, thank goodness He convicts me when I do wrong…and thank goodness He forgives me too! I also take comfort that Jesus Christ has my back! When hurt because of judgement from others, I cling to Him..He is my comfort and my strength! He can be yours too!
Psalm 46:1 (NKJV) ~ God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
The choice is yours my friends…each day ..each second is a chance to start fresh. Judging others based on your feelings just doesn’t do any good. In fact, it is harmful..to you and to the other person. Just stop yourself next time , instead of thinking bad thoughts and especially instead of saying those thoughts out loud, “put yourself in their shoes”..and see them through the eyes of Jesus. Unconditional love..that’s what it is. Realize that you can “not like” something without acting as if you are superior(judging). Let go and Let GOD do the judging. He is the only eligible one anyways.
Psalm 19:9 (NKJV) ~ The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgements of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
My prayer is that you let go and let God guide your ways. Begin to look at one another through the eyes of Jesus..love your neighbor as yourself.
UNTIL NEXT TIME! 🙂
