SHINE

  

   D.L. Moody said: ” A holy life will produce the deepest impression.   Lighthouses blow no horns; they only shine.”

 

   My husband and I went to the New England States back in September of 2010. I actually surprised him with this trip for his birthday/our anniversary. He has always wanted to go there, and it was definitely a wonderful trip!

   Being able to see more of the world that our awesome God created was wonderful! (the food was pretty terrific too 🙂 ) One of the things that we will always remember is all of the beautiful lighthouses. We saw so many different ones, all beautiful..some plainer than others..some fancier..but all unique. The pictures at the top of this post are two of the lighthouses that we saw.

   The one thing these lighthouses had in common was the fact that they had a light in them. A light…not a horn…just a light. That is how we should be..reflecting God, shining for Jesus! We need to be different than the world. People should be able to look at me and you(if you are a true believer in Christ) and say..”Man, I see Jesus shining in and through you!”

   Ephesians 5 : 8-10 (NKJV) ~ For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth) finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.

 

   See, a lighthouse does not blare a horn, scream or holler, it simply shines a light! It simply guides a ship to safety with a light.

   One of my constant prayers that I pray alone and with my children is that people see Jesus when they look at me/us. I want to SHINE for Him! In order to be like Him I have to constantly keep my thoughts, actions and words in check. You know the old saying: You may be the only bible some people read.

  

1 John 1 : 5 (NKJV) ~ This is the message that we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

 Matthew 5 : 16 (NKJV) ~ Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

   Our actions should prove to others that we love Jesus. The simplest act can show others that Jesus loves them or it can show them that we say we love Jesus but we act like we don’t. Jesus is love. Period.

   Does this mean that because I mess up and lose my cool, that I don’t love Jesus? No..it simply means that I need to try harder. It means that I have to be in constant communication (prayer, reading God’s word, etc..)with Jesus, so that I can be more like Him! I mentioned in my post(To Know HIM More) how if you want to be more like Him then you have to spend time with Him.

   The Holy Spirit living within you is like your lighthouse..Jesus in you..shining through you to others..to lead them home..to lead the lost home..

   I know one thing for sure, I want to SHINE for Jesus…because I love Him so much and want others to be as filled with joy and peace as I am! It is all because of Jesus!!!!  You can SHINE for Him too…

   My prayer is that you all are blessed, and that you remember to glorify God in all you do and say…SHINE like a lighthouse. With the Holy Spirit leading you I promise you that you will not be able to contain the light that is within you!
